Under-9 ‘A’ League
Chesterton Juniors 1 Banbury United Youth 3
On this breezy but sunny October morning, Banbury United Youth took on Chesterton Juniors away in the A-League. With both sides in good form it was Chesterton that had the earlier exchanges. One long distance shot bringing out a fine one-handed save from George Millward. With Ashley Owen and Captain Connor Sims in fine form at the back, United started to build. With a quick pass from Shay Kelly to Lincoln Alexander United’s first goal was produced. Oliver McBride launched a 15 yard drive which was too hot for the Chesterton’s keeper to stop for United’s second goal. Chesterton went on the attack and from one resulting corner Nathan Hopkins headed a superb goal passed George Millward’s outstretched hand. United’s third goal came from a Callum Reed shot which Shay Kelly toe-poked under Chesterton’s keeper.
The second half was a tale of two defences stopping all attacks leaving both keepers with little to do. The final score remain 1-3 to United. Two good footballing sides producing end-to-end football.
2nd Match – Chesteron Juniors 1 Banbury United Youth 3
The second game saw a debut return for Paul Barnes in goal and George Millward moving into centre midfield. Taylor Jenkins came on as forward. Shortly after the kick off, United gained a corner. Captain Connor Sims fired in the corner and scored from the resulting rebound for United’s first goal. Leading by example, Connor Sims scored again from the edge of the area. Shay Kelly flying down the left wing crossed in for Taylor Jenkins who narrowly missed with an acrobatic kick. Chesterton then went on the attack and scored from a solo run by one of their forwards. After half-time, Lincoln Alexander, Callum Reed and Ashley Owen all came on with instant success, Callum Reed set up Ashley Owen for United’s third, making the final score 1-3 to United.
Under-13 ‘B’ League
Eynsham Youth 6 Banbury United Youth 2
On a gloomy autumn afternoon Eynsham ran out winners against a very competitive Banbury side that and a some what lethargic performance from the home side made it an interesting contest. Rob Pryse gave the home side an early lead of 1-0 but Banbury quickly levelled through Tom Jackson. It was Rob Pryse who was again to give Eynsham a 2-1 lead with his second effort. Stephen Pearce sent Eynsham in at half-time with a 3-1 lead when he buried a terrific left foot shot from a big clearance deep into the visitors half.
Eynsham introduced substitute Liam Botcherby at the start of the second half with immediate effect as he laid on Eynsham's fourth as Rob Pryse completed his hat-trick from a defence splitting ball from Liam and also help Rob keep up his rich vain of goal scoring. Tom Jackson then scored his second for Banbury when he latched on to a great through ball an drove a right foot effort past a helpless home keeper for 4-2. It was Liam Botcherby who was to help himself to a brace of goals and complete a final score of 6-2 which on the day probably flattered the home side against a battling Banbury United side.
