Under-9 ‘A’ League

Bicester Town Colts 2 Banbury United Youth 1

United’s third away game on the trot saw them take on Bicester Town Colts. The first half saw both teams playing end to end football with Connor Sims and Ashley Owen sweeping up most attempts at the back. Bicester’s Charlie Cassidy slipped past Connor Sims and fired an on unstoppable shot over George Millward for Bicester’s first and the only goal of the half.

The second half went much the same way, a slight touch outside the box by Shay Kelly resulted in Bicester’s Fin Starkett stepping up to take a free kick, his shot rebounded off United’s Oliver McBride, but Fin Starkett reacted first to hit another shot which was deflected, sending the United’s keeper the wrong way. United started belatedly to settle and play more passing football, Callum Reed set up Lincoln Alexander for United’s goal. This prompted a much more frantic end to the game. A good fast paced match with little between the two sides.

2nd Match – Bicester Town Colts 4 Banbury United Youth 3

This second game saw the usual position changes plus the introduction of Taylor Jenkins and Paul Barnes in this 8-a-side game. Two goals for Bicester, and a goal from Taylor Jenkins with good work from Paul Barnes saw United’s first. A second goal created by Ashley Owen for Connor Sims saw the first half end 2-2.

The second half saw Oliver McBride in goal, Shay Kelly on the wing and George Millward in midfield. Bicester quickly took a 4-2 lead, United pulled one back with a solo run from Lincoln Alexander after a pass from Callum Reed. United went on to miss a string of clear cut chances, with the game finally ending 4-3.

Eynsham Youth 2 – 1 Banbury Utd Spencer

On a lovely day for football Spencer started really well this game with Liam Turnbull on the right and Sam Harris on the left playing some great football, Rossi Salvatore and Jack Davis where in defence and nothing really bothered them, then Eynsham where awarded a corner. A short corner was taken no one closed down and the cross came in Spencer had numerous chances to clear but a eynsham foot connected and it trickled over the line, Eynsham went two up a few minutes later from almost the same position.

Half time 2 – 0

Spencer again started the strongest and where playing some neat football Luke Peacock in the middle was making some good runs and Cameron Fowler tackling back well, we had to bring new signing Harry Barnard on for Liam as he had an elbow in the face (nose Bleed) once Liam was back on he made up for the little break with a great strike from the edge of the area 2- 1, Spencer pushed and pushed for an equaliser but it wasn’t to be, but a great performance by all.

Man of the Match Rossi Salvatore

2nd Match – Eynsham Youth 1 – 10 Banbury Utd Spencer

Spencer ran riot in this game and probably should have had more than 10 but whose complaining Harry Barnard got his hatrick , Liam Turnbull 2 , Jack Davis 2 , Cameron Fowler 1 , and a great free kick from Rossi with 1 and a own goal, we have got to play like this in the first game.

Squad

Josh Howse , Rossi Salvatore , Jack Davis , Cameron Fowler , Sam Harris , Liam Turnbull , Luke Peacock , Harry Barnard , Josh Betts .

Easington Sports v Banbury United

On a sunny autumn morning and on perfect playing conditions at Horton View's excellent playing surface Banbury put on a 5 star performance against their banbury rivals.

Banbury were 2 up at half time thanks to goals from Jack Hedges against his former club and Charlie Green with his 7th goal of the season.

Banbury dominated for long periods and further goals from green with his 2nd and an own goal and Callum Huckfield finished of the scoring.

Easington battled well throughout but Banbury had the edge across the pitch which was well refereed by official Richard Harvey.
