U9 ‘A’ League
Banbury United Youth 3 Ducklington 1
Banbury United Youth took on Ducklington at home. Straight from the kick-off United applied the pressure and it soon paid off with early shots from Callum Reed and Oliver McBride. The ball then fell to Lincoln Alexander to slot home for United’s first. After that, Ducklington seemed to get into gear and piled on the pressure themselves with a string of corners. After one attack the ball fell to Harvey Savin who crashed the ball in off the bar to equalise. George Millward in goal was left with no chance. With the pressure still on, Shay Kelly nicked the ball and his pass set Callum Reed totally clear to place the ball under the Ducklington keeper with the outside of his foot.
The second half, saw United take command of midfield. An outstanding performance from Connor Sims in central midfield seemingly winning every ball. A short corner had Ashley Owen shoot narrowly wide before Shay Kelly with great vision and a long ball picking out Lincoln Alexander in clear space and with only the keeper to beat. He crashed the ball into the bottom corner for the final score to finish 3-1 to United. This was a superb match to watch with excellent football and the referee being fair and allowing the game to flow.
2nd Match – Banbury United Youth 4 Ducklington 2
The second game saw the introduction of Paul Barnes and Taylor Jenkins. Again, shortly after kick-off United scored through Shay Kelly, this was quickly followed by a Taylor Jenkins goal with good work from Oliver McBride. A third goal was scored by Ashley Owen. Ducklington then scored on the stroke of half-time.
The second half saw the introduction of Connor Sims, Callum Reed with Ashley Owen in goal and George Millward in midfield. Paul Barnes then made it 4-1 with a fine finish and good work from Lincoln Alexander. Ducklington made it 4-2 which became the final score. Another good team performance.
