Under-9 ‘A’ League

Charlbury Town Youth 0 Banbury United Youth 3

Banbury United Youth took on Charlbury Town Youth away in the U9s ‘A’ league. In miserable conditions, both teams played some good football and it turned out to be a midfield battle with Charlbury getting the upper hand, but it was United’s defence who shone out with Ashley Owen and Shay Kelly seemingly unbeatable at the back. Shay Kelly launched a long range shot from his own half, which Charlbury’s goalkeeper did well to save and in the scramble that followed, an own goal was conceded.

United’s started well despite the rain in the second half, a cool pass from Connor Sims set Callum Reed free to score his first of the match and United’s second goal. Oliver McBride was on top form on the left wing and with some stunning skill had the beating of the Charlburys’ defence every time and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Lincoln Alexander on the right wing produced an excellent cross to Callum Reed to finish his second and United’s third. George Millward in goal was left virtually untroubled and the game ended 0-3 to Banbury United Youth.

Lincoln Alexander then produce his own goal via a solo run for United’s fourth. An own goal by United made it 1-4. George Millward played some defence splitting passes before Oliver McBride rounded off a good team performance to make the final score 1-5 to United.
