Banbury Utd 2 - Deddington 0

On a bright Saturday morning Banbury played their first game in 4 weeks against a strong Deddington side. Banbury shook off the cobwebs and were attacking from the start, with Ty winning the tackles in the middle, Banbury had a few half chances which Deddington defended well. Deddington then got into their rhythm and started to pass the ball through the midfield well and George in goal had to make a couple of good saves low down. Banbury got the breakthrough when Ty passed to Fay who beat her man got to the by-line and crossed the ball to Harvey to smartly slot the ball in the near post.

Half time came and Banbury came out battling for every ball which allowed them time to pass the ball around. Charlie Dunn came on for Fay and used his pace with a couple of runs down the wing. Deddington kept breaking on the counter attack but Bradley and Riley made some last gasp tackles to keep them at Bay.

Banbury’s second came when Ben made at tackle the ball broke for Ty who passed to Harvey, Harvey went round two players advanced on the keeper and slotted the ball home for a great goal. Their was just enough time for Deddington to fire in a good shot which George did very well to save and hold on to.

A good display by both teams played in the right spirit.

2nd Game - Banbury Utd 3 – Deddington 2

There were some changes for the second game with Ryan starting up front, he quickly got into his stride and scored on one of Banbury’s first attacks from a good pass from Ty. Jed was making some headway down the right and crossed in a couple of good balls which were cleared. Banbury kept on attacking and when Deddington cleared the ball, Banbury realised that even their defenders were attacking!, the Deddington forward went through to score the equaliser. This inspired Deddington to attack more and Fay and Isaac at the back had to make some big tackles to keep the score even at half time. Ben came on for George at half time and produced some smart saves at the beginning of the half, Banbury attacked again and a smart pass from Riley put Harvey through to score again. (£10 for a hat trick Mum!!!).

Deddington came back to equalise after a good run and excellent cross flashed across the box to the centre forward at the back post to score. Banbury had one more chance to score after good work from Jed and Riley on the right the ball was crossed to the back post for Bradley to hit home a good winner.

Another good display from the team.

Overall the team put in a hardworking performance and are starting to realise that other teams are working hard to beat Banbury Utd so we must compete with them.

Banbury United Youth 0 - Bicester Town Colts 2

On this mild January morning both teams lined up for their first game after the winter break. Both teams went on the attack with United’s Lincoln Alexander and Connor Sims linking up to give Callum Reed a shot, which narrowly missed with the Bicester keeper beat. Both teams’ defences were on top form with United’s Ashley Owen, Shay Kelly and Oliver McBride putting in many excellent tackles. The half finished 0-0 with United probably having the best of the exchanges.

The second half, with United now playing into the wind, both teams continued their quality passing football. A shot from Bicester’s Jordon Craig saw the ball roll pass George Millward in goal for Bicester’s first. United pushed for an equaliser but Bicester broke and with three players on Ashley Owen and Shay Kelly rushing in, deflected Harry Butlans-Web shot for Bicester’s second and final goal of the match. Good game with some great passing sequences from both teams.

2nd Game - Banbury United Youth 7 - Bicester Town Colts 3

The second game, United made changes to the team format. A goal from Shay Kelly, another from Calan Cheyne and two from Bicester resulted in the first half finishing 2-2.

The second half, Paul Barnes made it 3-2 and with four further goals from him and one from Bicester made the final score 7-3 to United.

Banbury United 3 - Bampton Town 1

Banbury started badly letting a goal in 2 minutes, it took Banbury most of the first half to get going with Bampton make it hard for them. Banbury drew level with a fine taking goal from Dan McIntosh, 1-1 at half time, Banbury seemed to wake up in the second half but still had to work hard for their victory, Bampton never let Banbury settle down and it took some all round good performance from the whole team and two fine taking goals from Tom Jackson to finish off a liverly Bampton side.

Full credit most go to both sides who tried to play football and work hard on a very uneven and muddy pitch.
